Most listeners follow on their own phone. The browser is enough; the InterScribe app is there for people who prefer it.
In the phone's browser
- STEP 1Open the sessionScan the QR code with the camera, or open the link you were given.
- STEP 2Pick your languageChoose the language you read and, under Listen in, what you want to hear.
- STEP 3Start the soundSelect Listen. Use headphones in public.
In the InterScribe app
- STEP 1Join
On Join a Live Event here, enter the event code from the host, or select Scan QR code. Select Access Session or Event. If the session needs an access code, enter it as Pin Code.
- STEP 2Pick your languagesUnder Language Settings, choose the Caption Language and the Audio Language.
- STEP 3Start the soundSelect Start Audio Streaming.
Event Settings in the app sets Caption Size, Caption Weight, Caption Theme and Caption Font Family. Sessions you joined are listed under Recent Events.
Keep listening with the screen locked
- In the app, the sound keeps playing when you lock the phone or switch to another app, and the screen stays on while a session is live.
- In the browser, your device's own voice stops reading aloud when the phone locks. The page says This voice will stop reading aloud when locked.
- On iPhone and iPad, turn off Silent mode to hear the device's voice. The page says Turn off Silent mode to hear this voice.
If something goes wrong
- No sound at all: check the ringer switch and the volume.
- Couldn't connect — tap to try again: tap it. If it keeps failing, try mobile data instead of the venue Wi-Fi.
