Check this list before your first event. Each item links to the page that covers it.

In your workspace

  • A role that can plan events. Organizer plans and runs events end to end. Admin runs the workspace. A member with the Interpreter role sees only the Booth.
  • Streaming time on your plan. On a session's page, Ready to go live? shows how much plan time is left and how much the session needs.
  • AI voices on your account, if you use them. Depending on your account, AI voices use voice hours, only while someone listens, or your plan sets how many AI voice languages a session can have. Captions and text translation need neither. See AI voices.
  • Interpreters on your plan, if you use your own interpreters. If your plan does not include them, the field shows Not in your plan. See Human interpreters.

At your venue

Sound reaches InterScribe in one of three ways:

  • This computer. A browser page picks a microphone or an audio input. Keep that tab open while you are on air. Use Chrome, Edge or Safari.
  • A machine at the sound desk. A computer that stays at your venue runs the InterScribe agent, with a cable from your mixer into its line input or a USB audio interface.
  • A stream you already have. Point an existing stream at InterScribe. It arrives a few seconds after the room, which suits a broadcast.

Computers the agent runs on

  • The desktop app: Windows 10 (19041 or later) or Windows 11 from the Microsoft Store; Apple Silicon Macs; Linux.
  • The command-line agent: Linux (x64), Linux (ARM64) such as a Raspberry Pi, and macOS (Apple Silicon). It runs as a service and reconnects on its own.

A connection to the internet

The computer or device that hears the room sends the sound to InterScribe over the internet, so it needs a working connection for the whole event. Connection and network explains what makes a connection steady.

Your audience

People listen and read on their own phones and laptops, in a browser or in the app. They open a link, scan a QR code or type a code.
