The InterScribe Agent is the small app on the computer that already hears your room, usually at the sound desk. It sends that sound to InterScribe. Setting it up takes about five minutes, and you sign in with your own InterScribe account.

Before you start

  • You need an admin or organizer role to set up an agent.
  • Use the computer that hears the room: its microphone, or the input your mixer is connected to. See Get good audio into InterScribe.
  • Your room should already have its AV channel.

Steps

  1. STEP 1Download the app

In the Portal, go to Rooms & audio → Agents and select Set up an agent, then Desktop app. Select Download for your system. The page picks the version for the computer you are on; if the desk computer is a different one, use Other systems.

  2. STEP 2Sign in

Open the app and select Sign in with browser. Your browser opens to InterScribe: sign in with your InterScribe account, choose your workspace, then return to the app. Allow the microphone when your computer asks.

  3. STEP 3Choose the channel and the microphone

In the app, open Audio settings. Under Audio source, choose the room's Channel and the Microphone that hears the room.

  4. STEP 4Test it

Back in the Portal, the agent now shows on the Agents tab. Select Test audio on its card, speak, and watch the meter move.

Check it worked

The app's Overview shows LIVE while it sends sound, and Agent is connected while it waits for a session or a sound check. On the Agents tab, its card shows Sending while sound goes out.

Settings worth knowing

  • Microphone level shows the level of the microphone being sent. Test microphone only listens on this computer: nothing is sent to your channel.
  • Mute microphone stops the sound going out. While it is muted, nothing is being sent.
  • Use mono audio combines the microphone's channels into one.
  • Keep this computer awake: While broadcasting (recommended) prevents idle sleep while an event broadcasts from this computer. Always while signed in keeps it awake whenever it is signed in, so scheduled events can start: best for a dedicated event computer. Closing a laptop lid still puts it to sleep.
  • Launch at login, under General, starts InterScribe when you log in to the computer.
  • Changing the Channel while you broadcast asks first: the audience on the old channel stops hearing this microphone.

Updates

Under Help & Support, select Check for Updates. Installing an update restarts the agent, which briefly interrupts any live audio, so install it between sessions. When an update is required, the app asks you to install it before you go on.

Send a support report

If something is not working, open Help & Support and select Report a bug. Describe what happened and select Send report. You can choose Include connection diagnostics: it adds the app version and connection measurements, and no credentials or event content.
