A full room shares the same air: every phone in your audience uses the same Wi-Fi and the same router. Problems that start only when the room fills up usually come from here.
What you see
- Short caption gaps that come back on their own, and the Console's connection badge turning amber.
- Only some listeners affected, or captions fine in the Console and late on phones.
- Listeners see Reconnecting…: "Your connection dropped. Captions will catch up on their own."
Keep your audio off the guest Wi-Fi
- STEP 1Cable the computer that sends the soundConnect it to the router with a network cable. It is the best single fix.
- STEP 2Give production gear its own network
Ask for a separate network for the sound desk, the Console and interpreters, or priority for the agent computer. Guest networks can limit speed or block live connections.
- STEP 3Restart the router the day beforeNot during the event. General advice about your network, not an InterScribe setting.
- STEP 4Send the allow-list to IT
Ask IT to let through
interscribe.io,*.interscribe.io,scrb.liveand*.scrb.liveon port 443, on the guest Wi-Fi too: listeners' pages are onscrb.live. See The allow-list for IT.
Help your audience
- Give guests a separate Wi-Fi name if you can.
- If the venue Wi-Fi is crowded, suggest mobile data. The listener page itself says so when it can't reach live captions: "Try another network, like mobile data."
- Ask people to keep the page open. In the browser, an interpreter or AI voice keeps playing when the screen locks. See Listening on a phone.
Check it worked
Watch the connection badge at the bottom right of the Console while the room fills up. It should stay Good or Fair. See The connection badge.
