Send your sound desk to InterScribe from the computer you have

A small app for the computer at the sound desk carries your room’s audio to InterScribe, so everyone gets live captions and translation. Sign in with your InterScribe account; that’s the whole setup.

What the listener sees

Clean sound in, clear captions out.

When the agent takes its sound from your mixer, captions and voices start from the same mix your speakers get, not the noise of the room.

  • Each room, its own channel

Each room’s computer sends to that room’s channel, so every room has its own captions and languages.

  • Interpreters hear it too

Your interpreters hear the session’s own feed from the desk, not the room.

What you do as the organiser

Install it once. Test before it matters.

Downloads and setup
  1. 1Three ways to run itThe desktop app for the sound desk, one command line for a Raspberry Pi or a rack, or the browser with nothing to install.
  2. 2Test before it mattersPress Test audio on the agent’s card and speak. The meter moves when we can hear the room.
  3. 3Runs with nobody at itThe desktop app starts with the computer and keeps sending with nobody at the desk.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Install and sign in

Download the app for the desk computer and sign in with your InterScribe account.

  2. Step 2

Pick the channel and the input

Choose the room’s channel and the sound input: a USB mixer, a line-in or a microphone.

  3. Step 3

    Go live

The room’s sound reaches InterScribe and every guest’s phone.

Good to know

What the streamer agent won’t do

  1. 1A computer, not a phoneThe agent runs on a computer. A phone can’t send the desk’s sound.
  2. 2The browser needs its tabThe browser agent stops if the tab closes or the computer sleeps. For every week, use the desktop app.
  3. 3Upload mattersA steady upload connection at the desk matters more than strong Wi-Fi. A cable is steadiest.
  4. 4A stream runs behindSending your OBS or encoder stream instead runs a few seconds behind the room: fine for remote viewers, not for people in the room.

Questions about Streamer agent

Ask us something else
Do I need an agent key?

No. Sign in with your InterScribe account. Keys are only for a machine nobody signs into.

Which audio inputs work?

Anything the computer can hear as an input: a USB mixer or interface, a line-in, or the built-in microphone. You choose it in the agent when you pick the channel.

How do I update it?

The desktop app tells you when a new version is ready. On the command line, stop the agent, run the update command and start it again.
