Explore how to manage audio channels and streaming settings in InterScribe.
Sometimes you need to stream audio from a phone or tablet — whether interpreters are on the move, you're covering a field event, or a laptop isn't available. InterScribe supports mobile streaming via mobile browsers, with a dedicated mobile app in development.
🎯 Best for:
- On-the-go interpreters
- Ad-hoc field reporting
- Backup streaming when laptops are unavailable
You can use the Streamer Dashboard or Web Agent directly from your mobile device.
Open Chrome (Android) or Safari (iOS)
Navigate to your InterScribe session or Web Agent URL
Authenticate:
Grant microphone permissions when prompted
Select your audio input (built-in mic, headset, or external mic)
Tap Connect Audio to begin streaming
📝 Note: Microphone permissions may reset when refreshing the page. Re-grant access if needed.
Type | Notes |
---|---|
Wired headset (recommended) | Reduces background noise and echo; stable connection |
Bluetooth headset | Convenient but may introduce slight latency — test before use |
USB-C / Lightning microphones | Ideal for higher-quality capture; browser support varies by device |
Built-in mic | Least reliable; sensitive to ambient noise |
If you're using the Streamer Dashboard to interpret:
Best Practice | Why It Matters |
---|---|
Use Wi‑Fi over cellular | Reduces risk of dropouts or jitter |
Charge your device | Audio streaming drains battery quickly — plug in during long events |
Minimize noise | Better transcription and listener experience |
Airplane mode + Wi‑Fi | Prevents calls from disrupting the stream |
Use Do Not Disturb | Avoids vibration and notification interruptions |
Is there a mobile app? Not yet — but an iOS/Android app is in development. It will support better background streaming and notifications.
Can I stream video from mobile? No — InterScribe currently supports audio-only from mobile. Video sources (e.g. YouTube/Vimeo) can be embedded via session settings.
What happens if I receive a call while streaming? It may pause or stop the stream. Use airplane mode with Wi-Fi enabled or Do Not Disturb to avoid interruptions.
Can I use this for interpretation? Yes — with the Streamer Dashboard (not Web Agent), interpreters can select their language and stream directly.
